Nic founded, built, and led an industrial biosensor company, Ekidna. Over its lifetime, he was the key driver in the commercialization of research work, grew the team to 20+ people, and raised significant private and public funds. Through this work as Ekidna’s CEO, he gained intense operational and leadership experience that he will leverage to help NCF grow and flourish. In particular, he brings expertise across financing, governance, and strategy.

Nic has a PhD from the University of Ottawa in Chemical Engineering, where his thesis work was focused on the development of novel biosensors. Nic also has been a volunteer startup advisor for various science and deep tech focused companies, helping them with early-stage positioning, financing, and structure. He also volunteers for Scinapse USCC and the Ottawa Science Fair.
